The big idea for my imagineIT project is making connections.  What does this mean?  connections between ideas; connections between concepts; connections between science content and the real world; connections between science and other content areas.  All too often students learn facts and information that remain in isolation.  They fail to understand how the knowledge gained helps them understand the world around them.  My goal is to help students see these connections and start to form a broader and deeper understanding of the world around them.
I was inspired by amazing things in nature.  I wanted to show some of the many things that I often wonder about.  Big ideas that can lead to many more questions than answers.  I also tried to show phenomenon from different perspectives.  For example, lightning from earth and lightning from space; ocean waves from above and from below.   I tried to find images that would make you wonder and ask questions, which is what science is all about.

To create the video I used Creative Commons videos which I edited through Microsoft Movie Maker.   This program allowed me to piece all of the video clips together, add music (found through Sound Cloud), and add text to the project.  My one pro tip is to make sure that when you are searching YouTube for videos make sure you have filtered your results for Creative Commons.
